I love the idea of decorating pumpkins with yarn and I wanted to come up with a fun and quick no-crave pumpkin idea that anyone could make. These easy yarn pumpkins are a fun Halloween craft and can be customized with different colors and designs.
While I made little yarn ghosts you can use this same technique to make pretty and colorful rainbows to cover your pumpkin. You can also glue the yarn in other various shapes and designs. It might even be fun to create a puzzle like pattern with the yarn.

Supplies for Yarn Pumpkins
- Fake pumpkins
- Macrame cord or yarn
- Fabric glue
- Black felt or card stock
Directions for how to make a Yarn Pumpkin
Step 1. Start by cutting your yarn. Cut one piece that would be the outer layer of the ghost. Once you find the length you like, cut five additional pieces making each one slightly shorter than each other.

Step 2. Next put down one arched line of glue on the pumpkin and add the outer layer of the ghost.

Step 3. Continue to add glue and the other layers of the ghost. Working quickly will allow you to adjust the strands of yarn before the glue dries. I added the next two layers, two pieces at a time.

Step 4. Finally, cut small oval eyes for the ghosts out of felt or card stock and glue them directly on top of the yarn.
