If you want a simple holiday craft that looks beautiful and doesn’t require many supplies, try making a Christmas napkin decoupage dish. This project is a great way to use decorative holiday napkins, and each dish turns into a sweet little piece of Christmas decor. They work well as jewelry holders, trinket dishes, or small gifts for teachers, friends, or neighbors.

Supplies Needed
- Ceramic heart dish or small round dish
- Napkins. Below are the napkins I used as well as some other Christmas napkin options.
- Mod Podge (Matte or Gloss works)
- Paintbrush
- Plastic wrap for smoothing
- Transparent rhinestones (4mm)
- Rhinestone glue
- Rhinestone picker tool
- Gold acrylic paint (optional for the trim of the dish)

Step-by-Step Directions
Step 1. Most printed napkins have several layers and are 2 or 3-ply. Separate the napkin so you are working only with the top printed layer.

Step 2. Cut out the section of the napkin you want to use by carefully trimming around the design with scissors. Make sure the piece you cut is slightly larger than the ring dish so it fully covers the surface.

Step 3. Next, lay the napkin face down on a sheet of plastic wrap. Using a paintbrush, gently apply a layer of Mod Podge over the back of the napkin. Keep your brushstrokes light so the napkin doesn’t rip.

Step 4. Lift the plastic wrap and flip it so the napkin is facing up, then set it onto the surface you’re decorating. While the plastic wrap is still on top, use your fingers to press down and gently smooth out any wrinkles or air pockets.

Step 5. Carefully remove the plastic wrap.

Step 6. Use a small amount of Mod Podge on your paintbrush to gently flatten and secure any spots of the napkin that are still lifted.

Step 7. Let the extra napkin edges dry completely, then use a nail file to gently sand them off.

Step 8. Give the dish its final details by embellishing the whole rim with a border of rhinestones or gold paint.
