DIY Animal Painted Mason Jars

I have a thing for jars! I can’t get enough of them and use them all over my craft room to hold supplies, markers, and embellishments. And it’s SO easy to make these jars cute. I promise this is such an easy mason jar DIY. I’ve figured out the best way to paint mason jars and, believe me, there are a lot of tutorials that I’ve tried that do not work. This works! I promise.

You’ll find too that painted mason jars make awesome gifts. You can fill them with candy, crayons, flowers, make-up brushes, or utensils…You get the idea. And the design possibilities are endless. Below I’ll show the best way to paint a mason jar and share some fun animal-themed mason jars I made for my craft room.

SUPPLIES:

Kylon Primer for painted mason jars

Outline the details of mason jars in pencil first

DIRECTIONS:

Step 1: Spray your mason jars with an even coat of white primer.

Step 2: Cover the jars with your favorite acrylic paint colors. I used two coats of paint.

Step 3: Use a pencil to lightly sketch the animal faces onto the jars.

Step 4: Go over the pencil tracing with your paint markers. Here’s a little tip for the paint markers, be sure to shake them well before use, and always test them first on a piece of paper.

Step 5 (optional): Seal your jars with a protective sealant. I usually skip this step, and honestly my jars still look great and haven’t chipped.
