DIRECTIONS:

Step 1: Spray your mason jars with an even coat of white primer.

Step 2: Cover the jars with your favorite acrylic paint colors. I used two coats of paint.

Step 3: Use a pencil to lightly sketch the animal faces onto the jars.

Step 4: Go over the pencil tracing with your paint markers. Here’s a little tip for the paint markers, be sure to shake them well before use, and always test them first on a piece of paper.

Step 5 (optional): Seal your jars with a protective sealant. I usually skip this step, and honestly my jars still look great and haven’t chipped.

I used the same steps to also create these adorable rainbow mason jars. Rainbow Mason Jars

  1. Does regular paint primer with a brush work or does it have to be spray? And how long did you wait for it to dry before you put the acrylic paint? Thanks

    1. To be honest I haven’t tried the brush on primer because the spray is SO easy! I’m sure it works fine. For wait time I waited overnight only because I sprayed it just before bed. As soon as it’s dry to the touch though, you’re good to go!

  2. Great organizing idea! I will use it for the crayons, because my son always loses them.

    1. Haha, story of my life. My son tends to lose his art supplies too. I’m always looking for fun ways to keep us organized.

  3. These jars are super cute. I am planning on doing these over the weekend with my girls. Super excited. Thank you 😉
